Tom Almeroth-Williams is a social historian of 18th- and early 19th-century Britain. Tom was awarded his Ph.D. in history by the University of York (UK) in 2014 and he remains a research associate of the university's Centre for 18th-Century Studies.

Tom Almeroth-Williams is a social historian of 18th- and early 19th-century Britain. Tom was awarded his Ph.D. in history by the University of York (UK) in 2014 and he remains a research associate of the university's Centre for 18th-Century Studies.

Having published articles in the Sunday Times Travel Magazine, family history magazines and academic journals, "City of Beasts" is Tom's first book. In addition to human–animal interactions, his main interests lie in urban life and the world of work in Georgian Britain.

Tom is the University of Cambridge’s research communications manager for the Arts & Humanities. He has previously worked for The National Gallery, Historic Royal Palaces and SAVE Britain’s Heritage.

Tom is a pig farmer's son and the descendant of an 18th-century East End sugar baker.
